World championship leader Casey Stoner claimed his sixth pole position of the season by qualifying fastest for Sunday's German MotoGP at Sachsenring.
Australian Stoner, who has already won four races so far this season, clocked a time of one minute 21.681 seconds to finish ahead of fellow-Honda rider Dani Pedrosa.

The current World Championship leader was the fastest rider on Monday, as the premier class took to the Italian track.

In warm conditions at Mugello on Monday more than half the riders in the premier class took to the track for the official MotoGP Test. Current World Championship standings leader Casey Stoner was the fastest rider of the day with a best time of 1’47.326, over six-tenths of a second faster than the lap time which secured him pole for Sunday’s race.

The Yamaha Factory Racing pair will start Sunday AirAsia British Grand Prix from third and fourth positions respectively on the grid.

Saturday’s qualifying session for the Silverstone GP came to a successful conclusion for both Jorge Lorenzo and Ben Spies. The second day of the British round of the 2011 World Championship was graced with sunshine, allowing the riders to finalise a good dry set up. The Yamaha Factory Racing riders were quick from the start in the morning’s final free practice session, wrapping it up with Spies in third and Lorenzo in fourth.

Jorge Lorenzo expressed his frustration at the first-lap crash with Marco Simoncelli at the Iveco TT Assen, a race in which he remounted his factory Yamaha M1 to finish sixth.

Jorge Lorenzo vented his anger at Marco Simoncelli following the Iveco TT Assen on Saturday, in which the Italian rider collected the reigning World Champion in an opening-lap crash. The pair were both able to remount their bikes, Lorenzo finishing sixth and Simoncelli ninth, but the Yamaha Factory Racing rider’s frustration was evident after the race.

Following the Dutch TT race on Saturday, Valentino Rossi reviewed the performance of the GP11.1 Ducati he used during the Iveco TT Assen weekend - and gave his opinion on the clash between Simoncelli and Lorenzo.

How did you find the GP11.1? Do you think it still needs a lot of work?
"There’s still a lot to do with the bike, there are many aspects to take care of and we can’t expect results to come overnight. Unfortunately, neither my team nor I have much experience with this bike, so we always need more than what’s available. There’s always a problem getting on the track to race with an unknown setting. This morning we could have used a little more time to resolve something, but then it started to rain and the warm-up ended there.
